First Responder Training for Equine Rescue

The Horsemen’s Council of Illinois is pleased to announce a “First Responders” Equine Rescue training session to be held  July 17, 2010 at Big Creek Riding Stables in Decatur.  The program is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will run for approximately four hours.  The training is open to both volunteer and paid First Responders.

The program originated with Trail Riders of DuPage in Northern Illinois, and HCI is pleased to be an integral part of expanding this excellent and much needed programming around the state.

Horse owners are encouraged to share this information with their local First Responders (fire, police, veterinarians) to assure they have the opportunity to receive much needed training on how to deal with horses during an emergency and avoid injury to the First Responder as well as further injury to the animal.

Interested parties may contact HCI Directors Karen Freese at (217) 677-2152 or Ron Rhoades at (217) 840-9473.
