The Fellow Award recognizes distinguished service to the horse industry and to the Equine Science Society over a long period of time. “I am very honored to be in the company of such accomplished horsemen and scholars as an ESS Fellow,” Dr. King said. Equine Science Society (formerly Equine Nutrition and Physiology Society) was established more than 40 years ago. ESS consists of the leading United States researchers and educators involved with study of the horse. The Society was established to promote quality research on equine nutrition and physiology and strives to establish effective communication among researchers, teachers, extension, and production personnel regarding equine nutrition and physiology. The Society also conducts periodic symposia and cooperates with other organizations having similar or related interests. The Equine Science Society started giving the awards in 1985. They are awarded during the national meeting, which occurs every-other-year. Dr. King’s Fellow Award was conferred at this year's meeting held in Keystone, CO. She shares the honor with only 16 other ESS Fellows. |
